Meet the Maker

Hey ya’ll, I am Mariah, the owner of Rustic Rose Homestead. I am a stay at home mom living in Texas with my husband Leighton and two little boys.

Leighton and I met in college where we both graduated from West Texas A&M University. We dated for three years before getting married, moving to a new city and starting a family together.

Before being a stay at home mom, I worked as a probation officer while still going to school and working on my master’s Degree. Although I worked in the Criminal Justice field, I also had a passion for DIY projects, home decor, making things and hunting for good deals.

My love of crafting started when I was very young. I grew up with a passion to go dumpster diving, bringing life back into old treasures and doing all things DIY. I blame my mom for this! My mom was, and still is, my trash to treasure sidekick.

When I moved out on my own, I started filling my house with all the oldest treasures I could find. I quickly realized my taste in home decor was nothing but chippy paint, wood and all things farmhouse. I started making my own decor such as signs and furniture. I then started making things for family and friends which led to me opening an online shop, so I could make things for others as well. I fell in love with seeing my work in other people’s homes and hearing about how much they loved it.

After getting my master’s in criminal justice, we decided it was time to start trying to have a baby. We got pregnant quickly, and shortly after having our little bundle of joy and returning to work, I realized I didn’t want to miss another moment with my baby.

Lets be honest here… how could I not want to spend all day every day with this adorable little baby face!

I started working on Rustic Rose Homestead full time while also being a full-time mommy. Sales have taken off, doors have opened, and business is growing. If someone would have told me only a couple years ago that this is where I would be with Rustic Rose Homestead, I wouldn’t believe them.

I have made so many changes throughout this journey as I grow and learn more. My interest has expanded as I have found a new love for motherhood and the things that come along with it.

This blog allows me to share all the things I love and enjoy with each and every one of you. I could not be more thankful for customers and followers who have supported my small business. I hope this blog brings you as much joy as it brings me. If you love following my journey, be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a thing!
